The chief creative officer of New Sheriff Creative Enterprises, Inc. is John Van Meter.
For over sixteen years on Music Row, John Van Meter has observed the cycles of the music business from a variety of perspectives. He has experienced the glory of being named "Publisher of the Year" (seven times), he has helped raise the profile of an emerging mid-size publisher, and he has been the struggling independent.
It has been his honor to work with, and learn from, many of the finest creative minds in the business. He has represented writers whose work is recognized far beyond the world of country music, such as "Mutt" Lange, Diane Warren, Randy Goodrum, Gretchen Peters, and Tom Keifer. He has worked directly with the giants of traditional country music like Harlan Howard, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Bill Anderson, and Buck Owens. He has seen the versatility of today's contemporary country writers such as Tom Shapiro, Bob DePiero, Jaime O'Hara, and John Jarvis. And he has witnessed the limitless creativity of writers like Bobby Braddock and the late Roger Miller.
His work with these, and other extraordinary writers, has offered him a unique background in the creative aspects of music publishing, and has afforded him opportunities to participate in every creative phase of the music business. Through it, he has gained extensive experience in production, artist development, management, marketing, promotion, and live performance.
He has worked with several of Nashville's most successful artists, including Kix Brooks, Ronnie Dunn, Pam Tillis, and Kathy Mattea.
He has been instrumental in developing the careers of rising stars like Sara Evans and Andy Griggs.
As a publisher, he has placed songs with artists ranging from Willie Nelson, Conway Twitty, and Alabama, to Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, and Trisha Yearwood.
As a producer, he has recorded with many of the world's finest musicians and artists, including Johnny Staats, Sam Bush, Norman Blake, Jerry Douglas, Bela Fleck, Tim O'Brien, John Cowan, and Ronnie McCoury.
On occasion, he has even co-written songs recorded by some of these same artists.
This spectrum of experience has refined his natural gift for recognizing talent, nurturing creativity, and inspiring excellence in himself and those around him.
The formation of New Sheriff Creative Enterprises, Inc., with its unique publishing model and hands-on approach to writer/artist development, has offered a concentrated outlet for his broad creative skill set.
