New Sheriff combines a nurturing creative environment with an innovative approach to deal structure and copyright exploitation.

Songwriting should not be limited by preconceptions of market or genre. The only creative boundaries recognized by New Sheriff are the imaginations of our writers and the needs of the listener. Every song is unique, each with its own possibilities.

Likewise, the needs of each songwriter are unique.
New Sheriff has developed a system for structuring publishing agreements that is as unique and individual as each writer, and situation.

We began by dismantling many of the age-old writer-publisher models. What became painfully clear was that, all too often, writers are paying for services they do not want, do not need, or have never received. Furthermore, the publishing community, as a whole, has been slow to adopt innovative strategies to sustain and nurture the writer-publisher relationship.

New Sheriff has isolated the different "functions" or "services" of a publisher, from setting up a co-writing session to exploitation and administration of a previously existing catalog, from exclusive writer representation to song-by-song agreements, and from song-plugging to demo production. (We also offer a unique "Writer Broker" agreement.)
Each agreement is based on a set of "services" requested by the writer. This concept was once referred to as, "cafeteria publishing".

The result is a lean, mean, publishing machine&..and some very well-fed writers!
